Vancouver, BC — April 13, 2026
UNIT/PITT is pleased to share new coverage of c.a.f.f. (calling all friendly faces), U/P’s monthly (e)merging and experimental jazz nite, curated by composer and trumpeter Ben Frost.
In a feature published April 10, 2026, music journalist Will Chernoff of Rhythm Changes reviewed the series’ sixth edition, which took place on Tuesday, April 7. Trumpeter and composer Thad Bailey-Mai performed two sets of live-looped, electronically augmented improvisation with Thomas Hoeller on guitar and Kevin Romain on drums.
c.a.f.f. launched at U/P in November 2025 from a one-off evening of Ben Frost’s music at the gallery the previous March. The series, occurring on the first Tuesday of the month, has presented a unique configuration each time, from Noah Franche-Nolan‘s trio (alongside Ben Frost and Miles Wong) in the debut edition to a run of duos featuring artists including Cole Schmidt and Mili Hong, Shruti Ramani and Chris Fraser, Brad Turner and David Caballero, and ረብሻRebsha (Feven Kidane and Nebyu Yohannes). The intimate gallery setting supports roughly 30 seats, with shows at or near capacity throughout the series’ run.
The article also traces a longer history of music programming at the gallery, noting that Coastal Jazz presented festival performances at the Pitt Gallery as far back as 1993 and 1994.
c.a.f.f. is expected to continue with one more spring edition in May before a summer break, with plans to return for another run in the fall.
